We are incredibly honored and deeply grateful to share a special milestone for Mama’s Attic African American History and Doll Museum.
In recognition of our 5th Anniversary, we received an official resolution from the Nebraska Legislature — a meaningful acknowledgment of our mission, our impact, and the stories we are privileged to preserve.
This resolution was proudly introduced by Sen. Ashlei Spivey and Sen. John Cavanaugh, whose support helps affirm the importance of cultural preservation, representation, and community-centered history.
Five years ago, Mama’s Attic began as a vision rooted in love for history, heritage, and storytelling. What started as a passion project has grown into a space where visitors of all ages can connect with the richness of African American history through dolls, artifacts, and carefully curated displays.
To be recognized at the legislative level is very humbling, and it’s a reminder that this work matters.
This resolution represents more than an anniversary celebration. It reflects:
The value of preserving African American history
The power of representation in cultural spaces
The impact of community-driven institutions
The collective support that sustains Mama’s Attic

We extend heartfelt thanks to Sen. Ashlei Spivey and Sen. John Cavanaugh for championing this recognition, and to every visitor, supporter, educator, and community member who has walked through our doors.
Mama’s Attic exists because of you.
While we celebrate five years of history, storytelling, and connection, we are equally excited for what’s ahead. More exhibits, more educational experiences, and more opportunities to honor the narratives that shape our shared past and future.
Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to continuing the legacy.
